Last night, House Republicans unveiled a short-term spending package that would keep the government running through February 16th and provide a six year extension of the Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP) {Denali Kid Care in Alaska}. The bill also delays various ACA {Affordable Care Act aka Obambacare} taxes on health insurers, medical devices, and high-end health insurance; however, this package does not include any funding for community health centers, the National Health Service Corps (NHSC), Teaching Health Centers Graduate Medical Education (THCGME) program, and other critical “health care extenders”.

I am working to find out if there is another bill in the works that includes funding for these programs. And I have not heard where the discussion is so far today. Below is a link to send an email to our congressional delegation at one time. I think it is important for each of us, friends and family to send one. {The Health Center Name is Bristol Bay Borough and I added Camai CHC to the end of it; see picture} The more they hear from us the better the chance that they will do something sooner rather than later. Currently the programs are funded through March with reserve funds. However, some programs, if not funded, will shut down on January 19th. Please let me know if you have any questions.
